GIBON

Gibon was confiscated from a sad situation where he was neglected by the person he trusted to care for him. Though he’s safe and warm now, with three squares a day, this sweet young guy has a lot of love to give! He wants a family and a home where there’s a sunny window to gaze out of and a lap to curl up on. But with so many cute kittens up for adoption he wonders if anyone will stop and notice him and give him a shot at the life he deserves. Won’t you spend a little time visiting with Gibon today? He could be the companion you’ve been looking for. Stop by and meet him at Animal Friends.

Edamame

This tasty bean is growing in popularity as a healthy and nutritious snack, particularly among the college crowd – and for good reason. When compared to other snacks, edamame leads the pack in terms of nutritional value.
Edamame is a green vegetable more commonly known as a soybean, harvested at the peak of ripening right before it reaches the “hardening” time. The word Edamame means “Beans on Branches,” and it grows in clusters on bushy branches. To retain the freshness and its natural flavor, it is parboiled and quick-frozen. In East Asia, the soybean has been used for over two thousand years as a major source of protein. Edamame is consumed as a snack, a vegetable dish, used in soups or processed into sweets. As a snack, the pods are lightly boiled in salted water, and then the seeds are squeezed directly from the pods into the mouth with the fingers.
Edamame is an excellent source of low-calorie protein which makes it a popular snack among vegetarian athletes. A half-cup of these young beans has eleven grams of protein and is one of the few vegetarian protein sources that have all nine of the essential amino acids the body can’t make. The fat in edamame is the heart-healthy kind, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats that help to lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease. Plus, they’re a caloric bargain at only125 calories. We have been using Edamame as an “after workout re-fuel”, packed with protein you can’t go wrong and it’s delicious!!!  Give it a try you can find it in your grocers “Natural” or “Organic” frozen section.

BUBBA BOO

Hi, there. I’m Bubba Boo and I am one handsome cat, if I do say so myself. Don’t let my picture over there fool you. I’m a playing fool! If you have it, I’ll play with it, whether it’s toy mice, string toys or a laser pointer.

Even though I’m a young cat with plenty of play left in me, I’m actually very gentle. I used to live with kids, both older and younger, and I got along with them very well. They were very gentle with me and I loved that.
I would thrive in a controlled environment. With so many people coming and going in my former home, I used to sneak out a lot. The world can be scary for a cat and it would be best if I can watch it from the inside.
So what do you think? Won’t you come down to Animal Friends to meet me? I hope that we can be friends!

BROWNIE

What a happy smile! Brownie is determined that you will notice him. He is friendly and seeks attention, scratches and compliments. And what a handsome coat: a deep brindle of black with bits of golden-brown.  He’s a year old Labrador retiever/Akita mix.
Brownie knows sit, down and shake. He really enjoys riding in the car, so rides could be just one more place to enjoy his companionship.
Brownie needs lots of exercise and might do well as a companion for your exercise like long walks or running. He especially loves women and would need a home with grownups or older children. He enjoys other dogs but cats are better for him to admire at a distance. Come meet hi today at Animal Friends!

Porsche Museum

The Porsche Museum in Stuttgart Germany will be celebrating a very special anniversary this year: It was exactly 60 years ago, in the autumn of 1950, that the first Porsche 356 models were shipped to the USA. Since then, what was at that time just a small sports car manufacturer, has gone on to capture the hearts of American sports drivers – and a good number of Hollywood stars as well. From October 12, 2010 to January 9, 2011 the Porsche Museum will be celebrating the presence of Porsche on the world’s largest and most important automobile market with this special exhibition, a presence which for six decades has been steadily growing. As part of this, visitors will be able to see the most interesting Porsche series for the American market, among them the prototype of the Porsche 356 Speedster, the rare 356 America Roadster, and the legendary 550 Spyder.
